Welcome to the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire & Northamptonshire Swift Survey hosted by Northamptonshire Biodiversity Records Centre (NBRC).
Swifts are built for speed and are returning to our shores from April, we need you to record when they do, where they can nest and monitor breeding behaviour. The population of these birds has halved in last twenty years. The reason for this decline is complex, but we do know that they need safe nesting sites in order to breed. This survey over Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire helps inform Wildlife Trust action: to help build a connected network of nesting sites (and habitats for their insect food). Help these wonderful birds recover!
From here you can access recording forms to log sightings of screaming parties, nest sites in buildings and dedicated nest boxes.
For more information about swifts, including help with identification and nest boxes, please visit the Wildlife Trust BCN Help our swifts information page.
