Northamptonshire Biodiversity Records Centre (NBRC) supports the recording, curation and sharing of quality verified environmental information for sound decision-making. We are a not-for profit, impartial, independent provider of biodiversity and geodiversity information for all who wish to use it. The centre is one of nearly fifty county-based Local Environmental Records Centres operating across the UK and we are members of the national Association of Local Environmental Records Centres (ALERC), the National Biodiversity Network (NBN), the National Forum for Biological Recording (NFBR), and the county’s Biodiversity Partnership and Local Nature Partnership.
Help us by reporting your wildlife sightings. See our Gaps in the Map 2020 to help target your recording.

Spring is in the air and we'd like to present you with an Easter challenge by joining in with our Look out for Rabbits! survey. Although thought to be common and widespread in Northamptonshire, we have relatively few records of rabbits in Northants and there are large areas of the county for which we have no records at all.
Thank you for taking part in NBRC's LOOK OUT FOR… PONDS! SURVEY. Please make sure you record legally and safely.
We are looking for submissions of all known pond locations. Currently this is missing information in Northamptonshire. With your help we aim to gain current information about the distribution, coverage and condition of Northamptonshire’ s ponds. Thanks to the Environment Agency for their support in our development of this, our first, habitat based ‘Look out for…’ survey, we are looking for your data collection submissions via both paper form and/or use of mobile survey tools.

It's nearly bee-fly season again and we'd like to continue with our bee-fly surveys to help map and monitor the distribution of these fascinating flies across the county. In 2018, the dotted bee-fly was recorded in Northants for the first time and we've now added the option to submit a record of this species as well as your records of the dark-edged bee-fly, so please check out our Look out for Bee-flies survey page to find out how to tell the difference between the two and submit your records for 2021!

We need your help to find Badgers!
NBRC are hosting the Northamptonshire Badger Group survey.
This group holds records of badger activity across the county, provides advice and organises rescue and rehabilitation. Your help is needed to increase and update their records. As a small community group, they rely on volunteers and members of the public to report badger information. Records of badger activity in the southern half of the county are particlularly needed.
For more information about how you can help and submit your records, please visit our Look out for Badgers survey page.
